Brian Banks was a standout high school football player at Polytechnic High School in California. An extremely talented linebacker, Banks had offers from various prestigious colleges for football and had verbally committed to USC. He was a surefire future NFL player at the time. All of that was thrown away in his junior year when he pleaded guilty to dragging classmate Wanetta Gibson into a stairwell and raping her at his high school. At 17 years old, Banks accepted a plea bargain. He served 5 years of prison, 5 years of probation, and registered as a sex offender. Banks’ football career was effectively ended.
